@jjks1, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

If your HP ENVY 7640 printer is able to print but is not copying or scanning, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:

Check Printer Connections:

  • Ensure that all cables are connected securely.
  • Verify that your computer is connected to the printer (via USB or network connection) and that the printer is recognized by your system.

Use HP Print and Scan Doctor:

Check for Error Messages:

  • Make sure there are no error messages on the printer display. Resolve any messages before proceeding.

Update Printer Drivers:

Verify the Scanner Lock:

  • Make sure the scanner lock (if applicable) is not enabled.

Restart Devices:

  • Turn off the printer, unplug the power cord, wait for approximately 60 seconds, and then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Restart your computer and try again.

Check Scanner Settings:

  • Ensure that the correct scanner is selected in your scanning software.
  • Test the scanner using a different program (e.g., Windows Fax and Scan).

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
