Normally, when I scan a document that's 8.5 x 11, the scan is 8.5 x 11. But somehow HP Easyscan is stuck in legal size. How can I go back so my scans are 8.5 x 11 size?

Thank you for this incredibly detailed response. In the HP EWS, I could not find anything in any tab that refers to Tray & Paper Management. Also, there is no option for Preferences. Did I miss something? Was I meant to click on something in EWS that would take me to Tray & Paper Management? Thank you for any and all help.

So sorry, I DID find Preferences under the Settings tab. Under Preferences there is an option for Tray and Paper Management. Clicking on Tray and Paper Settings, it is already set at Letter (8.5x11in.). Are there any alternatives I can try to get HP Easy Scan to scan in letter size vs. legal size?

No, you didn't miss anything.

My fault.

As soon as I posted my message I realized the answer does not address Scanning in the way you need.

I removed the post, in fact.

The version of EWS is matched to your printer.

I'm not aware of a way to use EWS (original version) to change or impact the Scan defaults.

So, I don't know.

It seems like you should be able to break the printer's obsession with the scan size.

I'd suggest HP Smart but honestly I don't know (having never seen it on a MacOS system) whether the app would help.

The HP Smart app does not have the ability to "Preset" scan sizes -- helps it not get stuck, at least.

If I think of anything, I'll get back.
