HP envy 4527 all in one
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Have HP Envy 4527 all in one with wireless  capability

But, I don't want to use wireless to scan,  having to constantly waste time signing in.

All I want to do is scan locally, not to the cloud or any other server out of my control.

Have Turned off & disabled Wireless.

Connected via USB.  Can print OK, but wont scan unless I log onto the cloud, which I don't want & takes to much time too log in.

I don't want my stuff anywhere but local.

HP support is not.

Thx

Use of the HP Smart application is not mandatory.

HP Smart includes some nice features - but really, you do not have to use it.

Download-save-install the Full Feature Software / Full Driver and use HP Scan (part of the software)

OR

Use other scan applications / software that do not require you sign in using your HP Account.

===================================================================

If you have not done so, download-save-install the Full Feature Software / Full Driver for the printer.

Full Driver / Full Feature Software does not require a sign-in to use the software.

Download - save – run

  • Look for Easy Start in subcategory Software-Utility

  • Home Page - HP Easy Start >> Open Category Software and Drivers > Topic: Software-Utility > Download and save the current version of the Easy Start wrapper to install your print software

OR

  • No Easy Start?  Look for and Install the Full Feature Software

Full Feature Software might have been relocated to Product Home  > Category Software and Drivers > Subcategory Software-Utility and / or might now be called  Print and Scan Driver and Accessories

  • Download-and-Save the printer software (Full Feature Software / HP Smart / Easy Start wrapper)
  • Right-Click on the downloaded package and "Run as Administrator" to start the installation
  • Reminder:  If using Easy Start, select the Full Driver

Easy Start... The Journey

About 2/3 of the way through the setup, you will be given the opportunity to select the software - select the "Full Driver" set (as opposed to the basic driver).

You can Skip any suggestion that you add the HP Account – you’ll need the account at some point, but you can skip this suggestion (as many times as it insists it’s a good idea) during the full driver software installation.

Side Bar: HP Smart requires that HP Account sign-in > HP Smart is NOT the same thing as the Full Feature Software / Full Driver.

If you see it, you can skip any suggestion regarding Instant Ink subscription.

Any...

If using USB:  Connect the cable when instructed to do so (near the last part of the driver installation)

After the software is installed, Restart the computer and log in.

Full driver provides print and scan functions supported by your printer.

Examples - Scan Options

Consider

Some of the following might require the printer be on your network.

Ignore where not useful in your situation.

1.  Start Scan using HP Scan executable

2.  Windows Scan  Microsoft Store - Requires Windows 8 or higher

3.  Paint- the Original - Paint (mspaint) can be used to scan.

4.  NAPS2– “Not Another PDF Scanner”

  • Download-Save-Install >  NAPS2
  • Not another PDF Scanner – free program scans PDF files and image(s) as .jpeg or PDF file(s).
  • Includes an OCR feature – may need Ghostscript add-on (See NAPS2 forum entry)
  • Read the Support pages for information
  • Download, save, and install the NAPS2 software to use.

5.  HP Scan and Capture - Microsoft Store - Requires Windows 8 or higher

6.  Webscan – located in the Embedded Web Server (EWS) – No additional software

NOTE:  Webscan feature  is not available on Laser printers

If the printer is on the network,

If the EWS feature is available on your printer,

First Time Use Only:  Enable Webscan

  • Open your favorite browser > type / enter Printer IP address into URL / Address bar
  • Tab Settings > Security > Administrator Settings > Enable >> Check box next to Webscan
  • Click Apply to save any changes

Next

  • Tab Scan > Webscan
  • Set up Webscan the way you want it - for example, set the Source to ADF
  • Click Start Scan to scan your document / image using Webscan
  • After the scan is complete, Save the scan to your computer.
