Solved!

HP Envy 5640 scan stopped working after installing Big Sur on Mac

All in one HP Printer and scanner function stopped working, Apple helped remove and reinstall HP software so printer is now working but scanner does not instead gives this error message.  I would really appreciate help with this, thank you

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

 

Are you using the latest Mac OS?

Are you using HP Easy scan software to scan?

 

Meanwhile, I recommend you update the printer firmware following the steps in the below article and check if it helps.
