macOS 12.0 Monterey

As the title says, my HP Envy 6000 won't scan with the top open even though it used to. When I'm scanning a thick book, it says it's scanning but it's actually not doing anything. However, if I close the lid, it scans just fine.

Fyi, my OS is Sonoma but that wasn't an option in the drop down menu.

I just discovered that this is NOT a problem with my wife's PC. She can print with the lid open from her dell. Is this possibly a Sonoma issue?

Hi @Bassguy,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like there might be an issue with the scanner's sensors or the software recognizing the lid position. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

Restart the Printer: Sometimes a simple restart can fix temporary glitches. Turn off the printer, wait for a few seconds, and then turn it back on.

Check for Updates: Make sure your printer's firmware and drivers are up to date. You can usually find these updates on the HP website or through the printer's settings menu.

Clean the Sensors: Dust or debris on the sensors might be interfering with their ability to detect the lid position accurately. Use a soft, lint-free cloth to gently clean the sensors.

Reset Printer Settings: Try resetting the printer to its default settings. This can often resolve software-related issues. Refer to your printer's manual for instructions on how to do this.

Check Scan Settings: Make sure your scan settings are configured correctly. Some scanning software may have

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

The problem couldn't be with either the hardware or software because, as I said, it works fine with my wife's PC. But also, I tried resetting the printer, checking the printer settings, and I made sure all the drivers and software is up to date so, by process of elimination, it seems like it might have to do with how HP interacts with Mac OS Sonoma. I'll try and uninstall everything and then reinstall it and see if that does anything.
