HP ENVY Pro 6455 All-in-One Printer

Hello, Sometime I want to scan a few pages from a book. But the HP Envy Pro 6455 gives an error stating that the ADF feeder door is open. Unfortunately, I can't close the lid because the book has some thickness. It's hard to believe that someone would design a scanner that can't scan from books. Is there some kind of workaround? Thanks!

I finally found a solution from an old message in this forum: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Scanning-Faxing-Copying/Trying-to-scan-a-book-with-HP-Envy-Pro-6400/m-.... I had to adapt it slightly because the HP Smart App doesn't work with my HP Envy Pro 6455 printer. However, I can do something similar using the HP ENVY Pro 6400 Scan program. First, I have to remove the book from the scanner and close the lid, then run the HP ENVY Pro 6400 Scan program. Then, under the Save As PDF option, I set the Source = Flatbed. Then put the book on the glass and initiate the scan.
