Hi,

I have a Laserjet 200 MFP M276.

Out of the blue the printer does not get an IP address from router.

I had router replaced , also i had HP Smart installed. And latest printer HP tool from HP website, but that all did not solve the issue.

I updated the firmware to the latest version, i had the latest driver installed and i already have been playing around for several hours.

Only when i connect with a network cable the printer is assigned an IP address from the router, 169.254.178.253

But wireless: NO. The printer out of the blue just does not get an DHCP IP address assigned...

I am starting to think the wireless module is defect ?

How should i further troubleshoot this ?

Best regards,

C.

That wired address you are getting is not valid. That is a virtual private address that a network card automatically assigns when it cannot connect to a DHCP server, which suggests your wired connection does not work either. When trying to setup wireless, does the setup show the SSID of your new router? I have found compatibility of some newer routers with printers to be poor and one thing to try is to configure your router so that the 2.4Ghz wifi has a separate SSID from the 5Ghz channel and only allow the printer to connect to the 2.4Ghz channel.

If all else fails, performing a factory reset might get the  network working again.

Thank you for your reply

Yes, i am aware that i does not get a DHCP lease and the 169. address is a default address when it cannot connect to DHCP.

I dont know how to show the SSID of the new router, but i do know this:

- i just now changed channel on the router, from 1 to 13, and the printer does connect to channel 13 but does not get an IP address (still the 169 one).
- i cannot turn WIFI5 off in my router, also i cannot change any SSID
- a factory reset gives the same results, and i have done that numerous times.
- even a fixed IP (!) does not work, the printer simply does not receive any print jobs.
- the only thing what works is a cabled connection, when it does get a normal IP address assigned from the router....

- remember, it worked fine on the old router for years and suddenly it did not get an IP address anymore, out of the blue....

- issue is i have a few toner cassettes available and i think it is such a waste to buy a new printer.

Update, i changed the SSID of my router to a new name, did a factory reset, but: no solution unfortunately,,,,
