Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

HP LaserJet Pro MFP M227fdn

Here is a little background info on the issue and the steps I've taken so far.

(We purchased about 20 of these model printers and this seems to be the only one giving us scanning issues out of the box. Unfortunately, I think we have had this printer for over a year before it was put into operation and then discovered to have this scanning issue, so I don't think warranty repair is an option any more.)

This printer seems to have no issues printing, the only time this line appears is on scan pages. And that applies to both the Auto Document Feeder (ADF) and the Flatbed scanning glass.

Not only does this produce the black line when physically printing any scans, the same line appears on the digital copies when I scan to a connected PC (Windows 10) using both the built in Windows Fax and Scan, as well as the HP Scan Utility Package that is included in the driver setup package.

- I went to HP's website and found the most recent firmware version for this printer and installed it sucessfully, and the issue still persists.

- Reset printer to defaults, cleaning pages and everything else seems to work fine.

- I replaced the toner with a brand new one to rule that out, and the same line appeared after changing to a new toner cartridge.

- Since this printer is no longer under warranty, I opened up the side cover to expose the circuit board that connects the scanner. I reseated the cables on that board and inspected around to see if anything stood out to me visually (blown capacitors, etc) and everything seems normal.

With this issue happening on the printer when simply scanning to make a copy, this issue feels like it is simply a hardware malfunction of some sort, but I figured I would post here to see if there was a chance that it could be something else.

Thank you for any assistance/clarification you may be able to offer!

Hi,

This seems as an hardware failure of the Scanner Assembly, not related with any way to the printing engine.

I may suggest denying any possible power cause:

With the printer powered on, unplugging the power from the printer.

Allow the hardware at least 60 seconds

Connect the printer directly to another power socket, without any power strips, hubs, surge protectors, etc, that in order to deny any possible power related cause.

Power on the printer and check for any difference, if the same persists I afraid that an hardware repair would be required, any such would not be caused by any unexpected settings.
