Product: HP OfficeJet 3831 All-in-One Printer
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I'm trying to scan a document and save it as pdf file to be able to search for some text (terms). My printer scans and saves documents well but has no option to save pdf files as editable /searchable (OCR) text. Is it only a matter of updating software?

 

I'm currently using instant ink.

HP Recommended

The 8030 series does not support OCR. 

 

There is free software available here.

 

You an use a smartphone and Office Lens

 

You can scan the document to a PDF on your PC and use Microsoft Word to convert to text.
