Hi

My printer showed an error code, which I failed to take note of.  It didn't seem to be working so I switched it off and now when I try to switch it on, it flashes a blue screen and then nothing.

I have tried to reset it but I'm still not getting anything.

Any advice would be good.

Thank you

Hi @Rummy02

Welcome to HP Support Community!

We noticed that this thread hasn't had any updates in a while since your original post; while this is rare, we didn't want this post to remain unanswered, so, here's the solution to your query. We hope it helps you and everyone viewing this post 😊

It sounds like your HP OfficeJet 4650 is stuck in a blue screen error state, refusing to power on properly. This issue has been reported by other users, and there are a few troubleshooting steps that might help:

  1. Perform a Hard Reset

    • Unplug the printer from the power source.
    • Wait at least 60 seconds before plugging it back in.
    • Try turning it on again and see if the blue screen persists.
  2. Check Power Supply Compatibility

    • Ensure you're using the correct power adapter for your printer.
    • If possible, try plugging the printer into a different wall outlet (avoid surge protectors).
  3. Try a Semi-Full Reset

    • Some HP printers allow a semi-full reset via a hidden support menu.
    • This process varies by model, but HP has a video guide that might help.
  4. Firmware Update (If Accessible)

    • If the printer briefly powers on, check HP’s support site for firmware updates.
    • Some users have resolved similar issues by updating the firmware manually.

Let me know if you need help navigating their support options!
