Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).

Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e - feeder will not feed documents when scanning from printer panel, but it will when selecting copy. It will feed when using scan from HP Smart or Windows Fax & Print apps.

I see many posts about this, but no definitive solution.

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP Support Community.

Are you trying to "Scan to Computer"?  If you are, this example may explain why it's not feeding from the document feeder:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=70GlNM9ytbc

The Source needs to be "Use Document feeder if loaded" on the HP Scan of the FULL software.

For more useful resources on using the printer:

Hope that helps!

No, it doesn't explain why it doesn't work. It doesn't work because of poor design and implementation. I've done similar to what's done in the video. It doesn't change the unexpected behavior. It still will not use the Feeder when using SCAN from the printer control panel even after using it from my PC app.

Why doesn't the printer install with the so-called "FULL software" in the first place so that it can be used as expected? This sounds like a work-around to me. HP has failed on this. It's like buying a new car only to discover it doesn't have reverse, so it must be taken to the dealer to have a reverse gear installed.

What is the link to the "FULL software?"

Hi,

Spoiler
No, it doesn't explain why it doesn't work. It doesn't work because of poor design and implementation

It's the designof the workflow., could have been better but it's the way it is. It remembers the last setting used on the HP Scan (from FULL software, not HP Smart)

Here's the link for the FULL software:

Thanks.

So if this is done, flatbed, not feeder, SCAN cannot be done from the printer control panel unless it's first done from the "FULL software?"

Ridiculous. It's supposed to do what the user wants. not what it "remembers."

So, to use the printer control panel to SCAN as desired, the "FULL software" that must be installed after the original software is installed on the PC must first be used...smh...that makes it pointless to SCAN using the control panel in the first place unless the user always or mostly uses it as a flatbed scanner or with the feeder.

This must have been designed in the '80s.

Hi,

Just set the Source to "Use document feeder if loaded".

After that, scanning from Control panel should work with Flatbed or Document feeder.

Thanks

So, it doesn't "remember."
