Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.
HP Recommended

My printer is new - just bought it. Normal printing and copying works perfectly. Scanning one page flat works. However, it is impossible to copy or scan multiple documents through the charger. it makes a lot a noise but does not feed the pages to copy/scan. I tried cleaning the heads but no change.

Hi @Annjf,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

It sounds like you're experiencing a common issue where the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) is not functioning as expected when scanning or copying multiple pages.  I would request you to please follow the below steps to resolve the issue.

Check the ADF for Obstructions:

  • Open the ADF and inspect it for any visible obstructions such as paper clips, staples, or small pieces of paper that may be blocking the path.

Clean the ADF Rollers and Feed Mechanism:

  • Dust and debris on the rollers can prevent pages from feeding properly. Use a soft, lint-free cloth slightly moistened with water to clean the ADF rollers.
  • Ensure the ADF input tray is clean and free of any debris.

Check for Correct Paper Loading:

  • Ensure that the paper is correctly loaded in the ADF tray. The paper should be neatly stacked and aligned without any folds or bends.
  • Make sure that the paper guides are properly adjusted to hold the paper securely without squeezing too tightly.

Verify Scanner Settings

  • Use Correct Settings: Access the scanner settings on your computer. Ensure that the scan mode is set to ADF if you intend to scan multiple pages.
  • Check Scan Preferences: Double-check the preferences in your scanning software to ensure settings are optimized for multi-page scans.

Update Printer Firmware and Drivers:

  • Make sure your printer's firmware is up to date. You can check for updates via the HP Smart app or the HP website.
  • Ensure that the printer drivers on your computer are up to date.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and disconnect the power cable.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds before reconnecting the power cable and turning the printer back on.

Run the HP Print and Scan Doctor:

  • HP offers diagnostic tools like the HP Print and Scan Doctor that can help identify and fix common printer issues, including scanning problems.

Take care and have an amazing day!
