Product: HP OfficeJet 7612 Wide Format e-All-in-One

HP Officejet 7612 screen shows 'printhead appears to be missing', HP say they are unable to offer a replacement, so cannot use to print anymore.

I have only been able to use for scanning, but as unable to read screen due to constantly seeing above message, have had to connect by wire, instead of using bluetooth connection.

Only now the scanner is not working, cannot get it to recognise, even though diagnostic shows no issue!

Any ideas before I have to reluctantly get rid of this appalling machine?

Well well! After attempting to contact HP, via phone I ended up with advice, message would come via WhatsApp. Do not have this so downloaded only to then find out I need a smart phone to scan box from screen, I don't have access to a smart phone. So that is a complete waste of time. 

Then attempted a few other things, including update from Applestore... hey presto something happened, could not scan (at first) but I could preview, then scan occurred. Ah success - I thought. Now back to square one where it will not recognise scanner. So I guess this is a software issue, which can be resolved (as it has scanned) so then what do I need to do?

This gets better! Attempted scan again, it previewed, but the document was not fully inside 'edges' as should be. So took out and replaced... guess what?? The scanner is now not recognised! Unbelievable!

Unfortunately have not discovered a solution, but had a thought!

As HP no longer supply print heads for Officejet 7612, is the solution making one with a  3-D Printer?

HP make 3-D Printers so they must have the technical ability to make parts to allow old printers to be put back into use, to help save the planet... great advertising for the company!

Anyone agree?

Discovered today the scanner works fine when connected to a Windows computer, but will not work (after attempting USB/Ethernet/Wi-Fi connections) on my iMac.

Received this when attempting upgrade:-

Umm, is this the issue?
