Hi @rhunter0021,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The "Scanner Problem" error on the HP OfficeJet Pro 9015 can be quite frustrating, especially if restarting the printer doesn’t resolve the issue. This error typically indicates that there’s a problem with the scanner hardware or its connection. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the problem:

1. Check for Physical Obstructions

  • Open the scanner lid and carefully check for any paper jams, foreign objects, or debris that might be obstructing the scanner mechanism.
  • Clean the scanner glass gently with a soft, lint-free cloth and some glass cleaner if needed. Sometimes dust or smudges can cause scanning issues.

2. Perform a Power Cycle

  • Power off the printer and unplug it from the wall socket.:
  • Leave it unplugged for at least 60 seconds to allow any residual power to dissipate.
  • Plug the printer back into the wall socket and turn it on.

3. Update Firmware

  1. Check for Firmware Updates:
    • Go to the HP Support website and look for any firmware updates for the OfficeJet Pro 9015.
  2. Install the Update:
    • Follow the instructions to download and install any available firmware updates.

4. Check Scanner Drivers and Software

Reinstall HP Smart or Scanner Software:

  • Download and reinstall the HP Smart app or the specific scanner software from the HP Support website.

Update Printer Drivers:

  • Ensure that your printer drivers are up to date by checking for updates through the HP Support website or via your computer’s printer settings.

5. Perform a Hard Reset

  1. Hard Reset:
    • Perform a hard reset by unplugging the printer, waiting for at least 60 seconds, and then plugging it back in. Turn it on and see if the issue is resolved.

6. Run Printer Diagnostics

  1. Use HP Print and Scan Doctor:
    • Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor utility, which can help diagnose and fix printer issues, including scanner problems.

7. Check for Software or App Conflicts

  • Make sure no other scanning or printer-related applications are open that might be interfering with the scanner.
  • Attempt to scan using a different application, such as HP Scan or another scanning tool, to rule out software issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
