Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.
HP Recommended

I just bought a new HP Office Jet pro 9120e series, I've spent about 3-4 hours trying to get this machine to copy however the screen on the printer is stuck in a "Firmware Updates" status and will not show anything else.  It's almost like it's locked up.  The printer prints from my computer, but I am unable to use the display screen for anything.  I've unplugged the printer and let it sit for 10min unplugged and still no change. Help please, I'm just trying to use this new printer and it's costing me more time than this printer seems to be worth!

@ShellG, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand how frustrating it must be to have your brand-new HP OfficeJet Pro 9120e stuck on the "Firmware Updates" screen. Let's work together to get this resolved.

Perform a Power Reset

Sometimes a deeper power reset can help clear firmware update issues:

  • With the printer powered on, unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Wait for at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet first, then into the printer.
  • Turn the printer back on if it doesn’t power up automatically.

Check if the display now responds normally.

Update Firmware via HP Smart or USB

If the screen is still stuck, try updating the firmware manually using a computer:

Download the latest firmware for your printer from the official HP site:
Official HP® Support

Follow the instructions to install the firmware using either:

  • HP Smart App (if the printer is connected to the same network), or
  • USB connection (if the screen is unresponsive).

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
