Hello all,

I had a HP printer Photosmart 7520  which worked great until I spilled coffee on the scanner. I purchased a new HP Officejet Pro 8025.  Everything works fine except I use to have my old printer surge protected. With the new 8025 I can't plug it into the surge protector because the printer powers on/off when I turn the surge protector on and off. In order to use the 8025 printer

power switch properly. I must have the 8025 printer plugged  into a live or hot wall socket. Then the 8025 power switch works properly. Was the switch change a cost saving for HP. Please help

@grw1300, Welcome to HP Support Community!

During the printing process, the level of current passing through the surge protector, or power strip fluctuates slightly, causing an inadequate supply of power to the printer. The surge protector configurations and load conditions that can affect proper printer operation. Depending on these configurations or load conditions, printer functionality cannot be predicted.

And hence, we recommend you connect the printer directly to the wall outlet.

I hope that answers your concern adequately. Let me know!
