24 November 2021: Has HP stopped supporting this driver? I tried downloading from the HP support website but messages came up saying that I must update my Adobe Flash Player. However, when I clicked on the link that said to update the Adobe Flash Player and I was taken to the adobe website. Then Adobe then explained to me that they stopped supporting Adobe Flash Player approx 1 year ago. So does this means I should take my  HP Photosmart C1380 to the skip? I do not know where I have got my original installation disc and I did buy a new computer 2 years ago/which is the computer I am using now ( and which never had these programmes installed on it). Time to purchase a new scanner?

Short Answer (My Opinion)

Yes, it is time to purchase a new printer.

 

 

Longer Answer

The software is no longer listed as available.

 

We are seeing more and more questions about older printers for which the software installation packages have been removed.

 

NOTE

 

The HP Print and Scan Doctor and other "fix and load software" programs might not be able to handle this type of "missing software" issue.

 

The Doctor program might not understand that the software is not available and might hang / spin instead of just saying, "Nope, not there".

What next?

Unless you saved a copy of the download for the software, you will have to look for it elsewhere.

For example, someone might have a private archive of the software installation package they will share.

You might find it on the 'net in one of the websites that specialize in archiving software for old printers.

 

Use caution when downloading any content from the Internet.  Not sure?  Don't touch it.

 

What happened?

HP recently removed the printer old printer software for this and other similarly aged printers.

 

Why?

HP does not tell us about internal decisions.

 

Speculation

I suspect the removal of the software is due to the software no longer working reliably in the latest Windows 10 / Windows 11 environments.

 

In some cases, the printer has simply reached its "end of driver" support. 

This typically happens near / about / at ten years of age for inkjet printers. 

Laser printers vary by model.

 

and / or

 

Old software might have been for security reasons, too - old printer software, especially that software no longer supported or kept updated, is vulnerable to various problems.
