HP Smart Tank printer 1505. Bought from Currys on January 25, 2024. Worked fine until middle of March. It connects to WiFi but will not print. Has ink and has only printed less than 50 A4 sheets. Been back to Currys but they say I needed to contact HP to sort this out. HELP!

Hi @George4647,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds frustrating to have your printer suddenly stop working properly! There could be a few things causing this issue with your HP Smart Tank 1505 printer. Here are some steps you can take to try and resolve the problem.

Basic Troubleshooting Steps:

Restart Printer: Sometimes, a simple restart can solve many printer issues. Turn off the printer, wait for a few minutes, then turn it back on.

Check Printer Connection: Even though it's connecting to Wi-Fi, it might be a good idea to ensure it's properly connected:

  • Go to the printer's control panel and check the Wi-Fi settings to ensure it's connected to the correct network.
  • On your computer or mobile device, check if the printer is selected as the default printer and that it's online.

Update Printer Firmware: HP often releases firmware updates to address known issues. You can usually update the firmware through the printer's settings menu or HP's website.

Printer Driver Update:

  • If you're using a computer, make sure the printer driver is up to date. You can download the latest driver from the HP website and install it on your computer.

Advanced Troubleshooting Steps:

Printer Software Reinstallation:

  • Uninstall the printer software from your computer.
  • Reinstall the software from the HP website, following their instructions for your printer model.

Check Ink Cartridges:

  • While you mentioned it has ink, sometimes the cartridges might not be properly seated. Open the printer and ensure the cartridges are securely in place.

Print Head Cleaning:

  • If the printer has not been used for a while, the print head might be clogged. Most printers have a cleaning utility in their settings menu that you can run to clear the print head nozzles.

Hopefully, one of these steps will get your printer up and running again!

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
