Hi @ABV59,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding scanning issues on the HP Smart Tank 7600!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Check Connections:

  • Ensure that all connections between the printer, computer, and network are secure. If you are using Wi-Fi, make sure the printer is properly connected to your network.

Restart Devices:

  • Power off your printer and computer, wait a few minutes, and then restart them. This can sometimes clear any temporary glitches affecting device communication.

Update the Printer Software:

  • Ensure that you have the latest version of any printer software or drivers installed. You can download updates from the HP Support website.

Use HP Print and Scan Doctor:

  • This software tool can diagnose and fix many scanning issues. Download and install HP Print and Scan Doctor from the HP website and run it to detect any problems.

Check Scanner Settings in HP Smart App:

  • Open the HP Smart app and check the scanner settings to ensure they are correctly configured. Sometimes settings can change or reset.

Reset the Printer:

  • Perform a reset of the printer settings to factory defaults. Check the printer manual for instructions on how to complete this process.

Check Firewall Settings:

  • Firewalls or security settings on your computer can sometimes block scanning functions. Temporarily disable or adjust firewall settings and check if scanning works.

Check for Error Messages:

  • Look at the printer's LCD or computer screen for any error messages or codes that might provide more information about the issue.

Scan from a Different Device:

  • Try scanning from another device or computer to determine if the issue is specific to your primary device.

Inspect the Printer:

  • Check if there is any debris or obstruction in the scanner glass area. Clean it carefully if necessary.

I hope this helps.
