Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).
Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

Microsoft Windows 11

On my wife's Windows 11 PC, HP Smart (which was working normally, but stopped) started closing immediately after a successful scan before allowing Save or other options.

Visited this forum, and the HP (retired) person attempting to address this issue experienced by more than 20 people, was unable to help people resolve this issue.

Although I do not have a technical answer, I was able to overcome this problem, so thought I'd post what I did as best as i can remember. I visited HP Support and to my surprise there was a a link offering HP Print and Scan Doctor. (My information was that this software was superseded by HP Smart.) Despite my surprise, I decided to install HP Print and Scan Doctor anyway, and see if it came up with an answer. It successfully identified all three HP printers on my network. Upon selecting the printer which was experiencing this, it said there was a newer software...which of course was HP Smart. Still following along, it took me around a couple corners to the Microsoft Store.

(I should add that I knew this had to be an HP Smart software problem, since I have the exact same PC model and HP Smart on the same account, and we were able to scan using the same printer from there.)

When I brought up HP Smart app in the store, clicking it generated a popup dialog which offered two buttons: 1)Open, 2)Update. I selected Update. After the update, HP Smart scanned and saved normally again. Saved the link just in case, closed everything and reopened HP Smart from my own regular link, and it still worked correctly.

Final note to the HP Smart team:  Please add an Update link to the menu inside HP Smart. All this inquiry and running around would have been easily resolved with easy access to HP Smart Update. — Thanks.
