Hi my HP Smart Tank 615 used to scan before using the feeder but now it states "No paper in document feeder". How to go about it. Thanks in advance

The "No paper in document feeder" error on your HP Smart Tank 615 typically indicates that the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) is unable to detect or pick up the paper. Here are some steps you can follow to resolve this issue:

Clean the ADF rollers and separator pad

Dust or debris on the rollers can prevent paper pickup.

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord.
  2. Open the ADF cover.
  3. Locate the paper pick rollers and separator pad.
  4. Use a lint-free cloth dampened with distilled water to gently clean both components.
  5. Leave the ADF cover open for 2 minutes to let it dry.
  6. Close the cover, reconnect power, and turn on the printer.

Reset the printer

This helps clear any temporary errors.

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Unplug the power cord from both the printer and wall outlet.
  3. Wait for 60 seconds.
  4. Plug the power cord directly into a wall outlet (avoid power strips).
  5. Turn the printer back on.

Check paper condition and loading

Ensure the paper is suitable and properly loaded:

  • Use clean, flat, and undamaged paper.
  • Avoid overloading the ADF.
  • Make sure the paper guides are snug against the paper stack.
