We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

The scanner is cutting off the edges of photos. I placed the photos in the corner as directed but the final scan image is cutting off the top and side edges every time. Is there an auto-fix or a way to adjust the margins for the flatbed scanner?

Hi @RunScout,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

When dealing with the issue of a scanner cutting off the edges of photos on your HP Smart Tank 7300, it often boils down to settings and positioning. Although there isn't a direct "auto-fix" feature for margin adjustments on a flatbed scanner, here are some steps and tips you might find helpful:

Align Properly: Ensure that the item you are scanning is correctly placed on the scanner bed according to the markers. Make sure the item is aligned with the edges of the scanner glass and does not exceeding any of the margin indicators.

Preview Settings: Before finalizing a scan, use the preview feature in the HP scanning software. This allows you to see what the scan output will look like and adjust any settings if the image appears cropped.

Software Settings: Check the scanning software settings for any options related to margins or scaling. Sometimes, settings like "Fit to Page" can cause the image to be cropped if the proportions differ between the original and the output settings.

Scan Area Adjustment: Manually adjust the scan area if your software allows it. On the preview scan screen, often you can drag the borders of the scan area to include the entire image.

Check for Firmware Updates: Occasionally, the issue may be due to outdated firmware. Ensure that your scanner’s firmware is up to date, which can be done via the Official HP® Support.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!

Hi Jerry, Thanks for your reply. I did all those things and didn't see a difference. I just went through the process again before I replied to you and it seems to be working ok now. I had restarted the printer and the laptop. Seems as though the usual tech support question of "did you did a restart" seems to have fixed the bug. I appreciate your help. Cheers, Dan
