HP Smart Tank 6001 All-in-One

Cannot scan.  Windows says there is no scanner connected.  Getting very frustrated.  Wife and I are not computer novices.  Why does this have to be so difficult?  Does anyone hve any ideas?

We've got it now.  Please disregard.  It was strange as the printer worked but not the scanner portion, but it has now recovered.

Hi @RogerAGrey,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It’s great to hear that you’ve resolved the issue with your HP Smart Tank 600 scanner. Technology can definitely be frustrating when things don’t work as expected. If you run into any more issues or have questions in the future, feel free to ask. Here are a few general tips for troubleshooting similar issues:

Troubleshooting Scanner Issues

Check Connections:

  • Ensure that the printer is properly connected to your computer via USB or network.
  • If using a network connection, ensure that both the printer and computer are on the same network.

Restart Devices:

  • Restart both your computer and printer. Sometimes a simple reboot can resolve connectivity issues.

Update Drivers and Software:

  • Make sure you have the latest drivers and software for your printer/scanner. You can download these from the HP Support website.

Reinstall HP Software:

  • Sometimes, reinstalling the HP software can resolve issues. Uninstall the current software and then download and install the latest version.

Check Scanner Settings:

  • Ensure that the scanner is properly selected as the default scanning device in the scanning software.

Verify Scanner Status:

  • Check if the scanner is enabled and not showing any errors in the printer settings or control panel.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
