Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

Due to my pinter appearing to be offline, I reinstalled my 4155e printer and the HP Smart app. I am now able to print, but the HP Smart app says that it "cannot detect" the scanner.  I have tried restarting both the printer and the computer.  I am still able to print but I am still getting the same detection error message.

Hi @ImpactNDB

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thank you for sharing the situation—and I’m truly sorry the HP App isn’t detecting the scanner on your 4155e, even though printing works. I appreciate the steps you’ve already taken to reinstall both the printer and the app.

Let’s walk through a focused recovery path to restore scanning functionality.

Step-by-step recovery for scanner detection issue in HP App (4155e)

1. Confirm full printer functionality

  • Ensure the printer is powered on and connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your computer
  • On the printer control panel, press the Information button to print a Network Configuration Page
  • Confirm the IP address and connection status

2. Reset the printer’s network settings

  • Press and hold the Wireless button and the Cancel button together for 5 seconds
  • The Wireless light should start blinking—this means the printer is ready for setup
  • Reconnect using the HP App:
    • Open the app > Tap Add Printer > Set up a new printer
    • Follow the on-screen steps to reconnect to Wi-Fi

3. Reinstall the HP App with full permissions

  • Uninstall the HP App completely
  • Restart your computer
  • Download the latest version from HP App for Windows
  • During installation, grant network access and device permissions when prompted

4. Confirm scanner availability in Windows

  • Press Windows + X > Device Manager
  • Expand Imaging Devices
  • Look for HP DeskJet 4155e Scanner or similar
  • If missing, go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners
  • Remove the printer, restart, and re-add it using the HP App

5. Test scanning outside the HP App

  • Open Windows Fax and Scan or Paint
  • Go to File > From Scanner or Camera
  • Select your printer and attempt a scan
  • If successful, the issue may be isolated to the HP App interface

6. Update firmware and drivers

Let me know how the scanner responds after these steps. If it’s still undetected, we can explore alternate scan paths or deeper USB diagnostics.

You’ve done everything right by staying observant—I’ll be here to guide you further.
