I have been using HP Smart to scan photos without issues. I got msg to update and did. After 2 days use, it continues to let me scan, but when I attempt to edit, the photo does not come up on edit screen. If I click on it or rotate, etc. it turn photo area to black. I have uninstalled and reinstalled HP Smart without resolve. Frustrated.

How is the printer connected to your device Wi-Fi or USB?

 I would like to know, is your router set to work on 2.4 GHz network or 5 GHz network band?

What device are you using the printer with, a Windows computer, Mac, Android or an iPhone?

Are you able to use HP Scan to edit images?

Windows 10 Home on a HP Laptop 17" using Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-1035G1 cpu @ 1.00 Ghz  1.20 Ghz

Installed ram is 12.o GB (11.7 usable) purchased earlier this year.

Try the below suggestions-

 

1)Uninstall HP Smart 

 

2)Install all the available Windows updates

If it is been a while since you updated your Windows, that is the main reason why Windows says your HP printer driver is unavailable. Here are the steps how to do a Windows Update to install all accessible operating system update.

 

If you are accessing Windows 10, then these steps are for you.

  1. Hit the Start menu and write an update. After that, click on the “Check for updates” option.
  2. Tap on the “Check for updates” option.
  3. After clicking on that option, Windows will install the updates automatically.
  4. When Windows completes all its updates, start your computer again and attempt to print a file to check if your printer works.

3) try updating the printer's firmware - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware 

 

4)Reinstall HP Smart

 

If the error persists, install theHP Easy Start (under the Software and Utility tab )and use HP Scan to scan a document
