HP Smart not working after update

After installing the latest update of HP Smart on my Mac, the software no longer works.  When I try to launch HP Smart, it starts to load but then the window disappears.  I removed the app and reinstalled it, but no change.  I don't get any error messages.  HP Smart just doesn't launch.  It worked fine for scanning before the update.  Now I can't do any scanning at all.  Help!!!

Can we suggest to use Webscan ?

For getting IP address on your printer, simply tap on the wireless icon and the IP address will display (if the printer is connected to the network.

This is not a viable workaround that my mother will be able to do.  I need HP Smart to work again, to keep this simple.  So are you telling me that the software update is flawed?
