Always been able to scan wirelessly but now the process will not start, just an error message.  Have reinstalled both the updated driver and HP Samart.

Hi @MWR2 ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand when you are troubleshooting issues with wireless scanning on your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283cdw, there are several steps you can take to try to resolve the problem:

  • Check Wireless Connection: Ensure that your printer is properly connected to your wireless network. You can usually do this by printing a network configuration report from the printer's control panel. Make sure the printer is connected to the same network as your computer.
  • Restart Devices: Sometimes, a simple restart of both your printer and your computer can resolve connectivity issues. Turn off both devices, wait a few moments, and then turn them back on.
  • Update Firmware: Make sure your printer's firmware is up to date. You can usually check for firmware updates through the printer's control panel or the HP support website.
  • Reconfigure Wireless Settings: If your printer's wireless settings have changed or if it's having trouble connecting to your network, you may need to reconfigure the wireless settings on the printer. Use the printer's control panel to enter your network settings manually if necessary.
  • Check Firewall Settings: Sometimes, firewall settings on your computer can interfere with the scanning process. Make sure that your firewall settings allow communication between your computer and the printer.
  • Reinstall HP Smart: Since you've already tried reinstalling HP Smart, try uninstalling it completely, then restart your computer, and reinstall HP Smart again. Make sure you download the latest version from the official HP website.
  • Check for Software Updates: Ensure that your operating system, as well as any scanning software you're using, is up to date. Sometimes, updates can resolve compatibility issues.
