Laser Jet pro MFP 3301 sdw was purchased for Christmas present.  I downloaded all the drivers, and the scanner isn't working.  It copies just great.  What can I do?

Hi @texxan44,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble with the scanner function of your HP LaserJet Pro MFP 3301sdw. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Restart Devices

  • Turn off your printer, computer, and router. Wait for about 10 seconds before turning them back on.

Install Latest Drivers

  • It’s great that you’ve downloaded the drivers, but make sure they are the latest version available. Visit the official HP support website here to search for your specific printer model and download any available updates.

Use HP Print and Scan Doctor

  • Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor. It's a free tool that can be used to diagnose and fix scanning problems automatically. You can download it from the HP support page.

Check Scanner Settings

  • Open the scanning software on your computer (such as HP Scan) and ensure it's configured correctly for your setup.

Firewall/Antivirus Settings

  • Sometimes, your computer's firewall or antivirus software can block scanning. Try temporarily disabling these to see if it resolves the issue.

Run Scan Tests

  • If using Windows, you can use the "Windows Scan" app to perform a scan to check if the scanner is being detected by the OS.

Check for Error Messages

  • If there are any specific error messages displayed when you attempt to scan, note them down as they can be helpful in diagnosing the issue.

Take care and have an amazing day!
