used my 3700 OfficeJet printer to scan documents And send them to my iPhone Pro Max 15 but did not designate a file location to store them. Where does my 3700 Office yet place those scans? If there’s no designated file place

@jjpo1943, Hello and welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.

If you've used your HP OfficeJet 3700 to scan documents directly to your iPhone Pro Max 15 without specifying a file location, the scanned files are typically handled by the HP Smart app, which is required for scanning to mobile devices.

Where to Find Your Scanned Files on iPhone:

By default, when you scan using the HP Smart app on your iPhone:

  • The scanned files are saved within the HP Smart app itself. HP Smart
  • They are not automatically saved to your iPhone’s Files app or Photos app unless you manually export them.

To Locate Your Scans:

  1. Open the HP Smart app on your iPhone.
  2. Tap on the “Scan” tile or the “Recent” section.
  3. You should see a list of your recent scans.
  4. Tap on a scan to view, share, or save it to another location (e.g., iCloud Drive, Files app, or Photos).

To Save or Share the Scan:

  1. Open the scan in HP Smart.
  2. Tap the Share icon (usually a square with an arrow).
  3. Choose “Save to Files”, “Save to Photos”, or another app like Mail or Messages.

Unfortunately, the HP Smart app does not allow setting a permanent default save location on iOS. You’ll need to manually export each scan if you want it stored outside the app.

I hope the information shared has been useful and resolves your concern.

Wishing you a smooth and hassle-free experience ahead!
