Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

Product: HP 8720 All in One (scanner)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Response in thread by PrintDoc (now-retired HP employee) worked for me. See below:

 

1. Using HP Smart

2. Selected Scan

3. Ignored Scan Preset because customizing

4. Set to Letter (8.5 x 11 in)

5. Output Color

6. Source Scanner Glass (selecting this makes higher resolutions available)

7. Left Detect Edges unchecked (because unhelpful with my document content)

8. Resolution (used both higher res ok) - 600dpi, 1200dpi

Scanned at the selected resolution. Does slow down scanning significantly for higher resolutions and creates larger file, but that is the point in the first place. Printed results showed the resolution improvements in details.

9. Selected JPG (where PDF was displayed)

10. Selected Download (defaulted to My Screenshots, but could change if needed)

That is probably Ture when using ADF to scan
