Hello
Im having some trouble solving an issue with scanning,
The Printer is connected and printing is working fine.
In device Manager the HP (Scan) Driver are correctly under imaging device.
When I use windows Scan & Fax App or irfanview, the scanner is found and works.
But the hpscan.exe cant find the device.
We tried removing the driver and Software, deinstalled all HP driver, removed HP Devices in device manager and deleted the remaining files under programfiles(x86)/HP.
After restart and installation of the driver/Scan SW we connected the printer via USB agian.
Scanning still works with other apps, only hpscan.exe cant find the device,
We tried a new Windows User profile, still the hpscan.exe fails to find the device.
We connected the Computer to another HP Printer (same Model), but still the HP SW cant find the connected device.
Checked the eventviewer, no error messages or application error for hp.scan.exe
Checked the registry, no special HP Scan entries found.
Does anybody have an idea what we could try to solve this?

Hello @Fataal91 ,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
The HP software must be completely uninstalled and removed of the system.
First download only this complete package: "HP Universal Scan - Full Feature Software and Driver ",
1) File name: Full_Webpack-51.8.5837-SJ0001_Full_Webpack.exe (411.1 MB)
Attention: read all information, click on "Expand all".
Then proceed as follows:
Check the system for
- TuneUp`s
- Optimization Tools
- Cleanup Tools
disable them, better uninstall them. Next...
- Disconnect printer/scanner from computer- Disable WLAN, WiFi and/or remove the USB or LAN cable.- Do not switch off the printer >> unplug the power cord from the socket!
- right-click Start, search for "control panel" and open "Programs and Features"
uninstall all HP printer software > via "Programs and Features" - right-click Start, search for "control panel" and open "Devices and Printers"
In the "Devices and Printers" window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.” - Restart the PC
- Close all programs
- Change File-Explorer-Settings:View > Options > "Change folder and search options" > Tab "View"
- enable > Show hidden files, folders and drives
- uncheck > Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)
- search for "HP [printer name]" and delete all this folders
- Empty the TEMP folders
A) C:\Users\[Your user account]\AppData\Local\Temp\
B) C:\Windows\Temp\ system files cannot be deleted! - Reconnect the printer to the power supply and switch it on (if this does not happen automatically)
- Please note: WLAN has to be deactivated!
- Restart the PC
- Close all programs
- Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo > in folder Downloads double-click on the EXE 1), see above.
Via USB, means wait until the installation asks to connect the printer/scanner. - The installation was completed successfully, now you must ...
- Restart the PC again
- Now the installation is complete.
Document error messages accurately, even better is to take a screenshot of it and upload here.
Important information:
- Change back the File Explorer settings -
- enable > Don`t show hidden files, folders or drives
- click button > Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
