Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).

HP Deskjet 3054A e-All-in-One Printer - J611c
Microsoft Windows 11

I have two issues. Any help you can provide would be appreciated.

1) When I scan something and try to save it, the default location is .../documents. This is never where I save anything, so I constantly have to navigate to the correct location. How can I change the default save location for scanning in HPSmart?

2) It is impossible to scan anything without logging into my public HP account. How can I configure the software so that if I want to access my printer from within my local network, for printing, scanning, verifying status or anything else, without logging in. Note: I´m not talking about ePrinting--which hasn´t worked for ages. I´m referring specifically to devices connected to the same router as the printer.

As an alternative, if fixing these problems isn´t possible, can you tell me 1) how I can use Windows Scan software with this printer instead of HP Smart? or 2) what company offers a printer that works without so much hassle?

Thanks

@johnnyb8, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I understand you have concerns while scanning from the HP Smart app.

Click here to download the HP Full-feature driver. Here you do not have to log in to scan/print.

Once downloaded, make sure to run the file to start the installation and follow the on-screen instructions.

Open the HP Printer Assistance to scan.

  • Select Scan a document or Photo.
  • Click the Advanced Settings button for the used shortcut and select the destination folder within the Destination tab.
  • Click OK and then click the Scan button.

Hope this helps! Let me know how it goes.
