macOS 10.13 High Sierra

The left rear corner of the document feeder lid will not shut all the way.  It fails to close by about 1/2" and therefore I can't use the feeder.  I have to load everything onto the plate page by page and scan or fax as a group which is time consuming.  How do I fix that hinge.  Printer is well out of warranty so I have no qualms about using a screwdriver or whatever to get it fixed.  Any suggestions on how to proceed?  Thanks, Jim

Welcome to the HP support community.

 

Check for any obstruction in the ADF

Open the ADF cover.

Lifting the ADF cover

Clean if there is any obstructions.

Apply some force and close the ADF.

Not much help. What is wrong is the left rear corner of the lid won't go shut - it sticks up about 1/2".  I can't use the doc feeder because it won't shut.  How do I fix the hinge at that location so it will shut?

This seems to be a hardware issue.

I request you to talk to HP support.

They might have multiple options to help you with this.

  1. Click on this link - https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp?openCLC=true
  2. Select the country.
  3. Enter the serial of your device.
  4. Select the country from the drop-down.
  5. Click on "Show Options".
  6. Fill the web-form. A case number and phone number will now populate for you.
