Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

Hi!

I cannot find the production year of my HP scanner. HP seems to have stopped the support for old HP Scanners.

Therefore: can anybody tell me how to find out the production date of my scanner?

By the way: The scanner has an on/off switch on the lid. Older models had a switch at the back site.

Greetings

Hi:

The scanner is at least 10 years old because the newest driver HP has for it is from 2015.

HP does have the Basic Feature Driver which is good for Windows XP>W10, 32 and 64 bit.

I've attached the user guide below.

Thank you very much for your answer.

I have an update also for you: the full working software for this scanner under Windows 8,10 and 11 can be downloaded here:
https://hp-scanjet-g4010.software.informer.com/download/

HP has stopped support for all old HP Scanners.

The software mentioned above enables the use of all functions, including DIA and negative scanning of photos.

You're very welcome.

Yes, you can find the full feature software from 3rd party websites as well.

This is my favorite one to use for PC's and printers.

hi again from Fulda Germany!

My last question for today: why HP does not offer this software?

I knew from the past that companies as HP used to support also their old products.

But maybe I am too old to understand the new HP policy. 😉

Oh before I forget it: there was also a small software, Grewe Scanner Interface that worked with every scanner.

The tragic is that this company has gone and therefore this usefull software is no longer available.

BUT I have it! 😉

Thanks to Google translator I hope you can understand german! ;-)))

Hi:

Since I don't work for or represent HP, I don't know why they remove support for their products when they become a certain age.

I'm glad Dell doesn't do that with their PC's.

I can still find drivers for their PC going back into the 1990's.

For HP I am solely reliant on 3rd party websites to look for drivers.

Yes, thanks to Google Translate I can read/understand any language.  😊

Greetings from O'Fallon, Illinois USA where it has warmed up today to -3 C.

It was much colder this morning.

Bring on the Springtime!

Have a great evening.

Thanks again for your reply, Paul!

Somehow this is crazy: I talk to a stranger who sits in a small town (Fulda is also small!) in  O'Fallon, Illinois USA!

Actually it is also cold here in Fulda. I guess Mr. P. from Russia sent us the cold weather.
From Russia with love! 😉

But I hope Mr. Donald T. will not read this and catch me.
Of corse I do not have any oil or gas or money! Really Mr. T.! 😅😆

Good night from good old germany!

P.S.: why I do speak english: here in Fulda lives a retired master sergeant from U.S. Army.
He is 92 years old now, speaks only a little german and he is one of my best friends.

Wow!

92 years old...He probably loved Germany when he was stationed there and wanted to retire there.

Maybe he married a local German woman too?

Yes, the internet has shrunk the world and language translation tools make communication so much easier than it was.

It is fun to meet and greet folks on this forum from all over the world.

There was a forum member from France who was fascinated with our town's railroad caboose on display.

I guess he looked up O'Fallon and that was something that popped up.

I see that Fulda is kind of centrally located in Germany as O'Fallon is kind of centrally located in the United States.

The main difference: in America, almost everyone has their own house because you have so much space.

Here in Germany, it's perfectly normal for 15, or even 30 or 50 people to live together in one large house, because Germany is much smaller than America.

In 1974, my family and I visited my father's relatives in Portland, Oregon. I was very impressed not only by the delicious fast food but also by the sheer size of the country. And in a German restaurant in Portland, we met a woman who originally came from Fulda: Hulda from Fulda.

How small the world can be!

And these days, I often think of a quote from a great man: "We all live together on this small planet. We all breathe the same air. We all cherish our children's future. And we are all mortal!"

John F. Kennedy, 35th President of the United States

Think about it!

Yes, many folks here have their own houses, but it is very expensive to buy a house here nowadays, so apartment living is becoming more commonplace.

And in New York City, lots of apartment buildings and the rent is extremely high.

The American dream of home ownership for younger folks is becoming just that--a dream.

We are a nation of immigrants.

In single family houses when I was growing up, I had lots of friends who had grandparents, aunts and uncles living with them--but not 15 to 50.

Maybe 2 - 3 non-immediate family members.

Most of them spoke Italian.

My father's parents were from Finland and my mother's from Sicily, so I got to try and learn both languages.

Many folks from Germany settled in this immediate area in the mid-1800's and in St. Louis.

Several German-themed towns close by such as New Baden and Germantown.

Only one German restaurant in the area though, unfortunately-- but at least it is very good.
