I have several booklets printed in a3 and folded in the middle for others to read as an a4 book. Now I want to scan and save then on my Mac. I scan the a3 pages using the flatboard and now have a pdf on my Mac. First page of the a3 pdf includes p1 and 8 of the booklet, the second p2 and 7, the third p3 and 6 and the forth p4 and 5. How do I cut the pdf into a4 pages and rearrange them in the right order? Is there any printer setting or app for me to do?

This is a bit convoluted but it might work.

Ignore anything that does not work - or does not make sense in your situation....

Use HP Smart OR "Easy Scan" to scan in the printed pages and create a single PDF file.

Scan each folded sheet of A3 paper on the flatbed (glass).

NOTE

This may work better if each page is scanned at 300 DPI or 600 DPI - whether the higher DPI helps depends entirely on the condition / level of excellence of the original print.

Use "Add Pages" to scan the second page on the same sheet and to scan the backsides.

Save the final file as a single PDF file.

Once you have the PDF file stored on the computer,

If the pages are (still out of order),

You can use the app to print the pages from your PDF file in the order you choose.

When printing:

Select your paper size

Select "1-sided" to bypass any restrictions on Paper Size for ADF 2-sided scan

Print the file.

Check the results.

Stack the printed sheets into the ADF and scan into the Mac as a PDF file.

Caveat

This method does NOT remove / add printed page numbers to the document.

If your original booklet style PDF file has page numbers printed on each page, you must remove those however suits your situation.

Example - HP Smart - Windows - Simple Document Print - Change page order and print
