How to shut off fax feature

I used the fax to send a document but did not shut down and now interferes with the phone calls

Open the Fax or Setup Menu:

• Touch Fax on the printer’s control panel.
• Select Setup or Preferences.

Locate Auto Answer Setting:

• Look for Auto Answer.

Turn Off Auto Answer:

• Toggle the Auto Answer setting to Off.

When Auto Answer is off, the printer will not automatically answer incoming calls to receive faxes. You will need to manually receive faxes when needed.

I'm trying to print off the internet and it won't let me because it says the FAX function is locked out and you can't do anything? I have no power over that message and can't do anything with the FAX function at all. I want to kill the FAX function completely but it says I'm locked out and to contact the  Administrator which I guess I am because it's my desk top computer and nobody else has access to it.
