I've got a Laserjet Pro MFP M477fdw hooked up to my phone line for fax service. We got distinctive ring service set up, so now there are two numbers that receive junk phone calls, and the Laserjet rings whenever a phone call comes in. I have the ringer on my home office phone turned off to avoid the interruptions, but there doesn't seem to be a way to silence the ringer on the Laserjet. Does anyone know some magic that will do this? (Unplugging the phone line isn't an option, because I will forget to reconnect it.)

Hi,
First, be sure to set the Distinctive Ring setting of the printer to match the pattern assigned to your Fax line, from the Setup menu select Fax Setup > Basic Settings, there you will find the Distinctive Ring option.
If it still get rings for any incoming phone calls, from the Setup menu select System Setup, there select select Volume Settings and set the Ring Volume as you need.

Thanks! My next work week will be so much better!
I was missing the volume option because the control panel menu wasn't giving an indication that there were additional options not shown. Here is the more complete path, for the next person who forgets to look "below the fold" like I did:
From the control panel on the front of the printer:
Setup -> System Setup (scroll down) -> Volume Settings -> Ring Volume
It's disappointing that this option isn't available on the web interface, but so it goes.
