My printer is not scanning its saying Deskjet 1510 series was not found

If your HP DeskJet 1510 printer is showing the error “DeskJet 1510 series was not found” when trying to scan, it usually means the computer is unable to communicate with the printer properly. Let’s walk through some steps to resolve this:

Check Printer Connection

  • Make sure the printer is powered on and connected to your computer via USB cable.
  • Try a different USB port and avoid using USB hubs or extenders.

Restart Devices

  • Restart both your printer and computer.
  • After reboot, try scanning again.

Reinstall HP Software

Sometimes the HP software or drivers may be corrupted or outdated. Reinstalling can help.

  • Uninstall the existing HP software from Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall a Program.
  • Download and install the latest HP DeskJet 1510 Full Feature Software and Drivers from HP official site: Official HP® Support

Check Windows Services

Make sure the Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) service is running:

  • Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  • Find Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) and ensure it’s set to Automatic and is Running.

Try Scanning from HP Smart App

  • Download the HP Smart App from the Microsoft Store or HP Smart. HP Smart
  • Add your printer and try scanning from the app.
