Hp Smart finalize the application in the middle of work and how I can continue to edit files created

Dear All,

I have a problem, that if I need to edit a scanned file with hp Smart and I have more than 5 pages, I'm experiencing that the hpSmart close by itself and the middle of the work and I'm unable to continue to work on this file.
What I edit mainly is: rotate or crop the pages.
If their is some other program that I can continue to edit after I scan and sav' maybe a geat solution.
