Solved!

I can no longer scan from my laptop (Windows 10, HP ENVY 5032) yet I can from my wife's desktop.

Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I can no longer scan from my laptop (Windows 10, HP ENVY 5032). Yet I can use my wife's desktop and my phone to activate scan. In addition, the scanning procedure has changed in HP Smart (new edition?) & now appears to be inferior in terms of image manipulation. Clearly HP Smart is no longer working fully on my laptop, in spite of several uninstall/reinstall attempts.

There was a glitch with the HP Smart App. Please uninstall and reinstall the App and try again.

Have you tried using the Printer drivers on your Computer to scan? If no, download and install the software from here:

https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers

I had a reply from Betty, for which many thanks. Unfortunately this is a route I have tried several times and the problem remains unsolved. Given the number of posts with the same problem, perhaps HP could get together with Microsoft to solve it. Not too much to ask!

I am having the same issue and have reinstalled everything humanly possible several times.  The scan button on the HP Smart app just isn't working at all on either of my printers.

Hi. Whilst I can now scan and print (at least for the moment) the screen image for scanning is minute & impossible to edit. I also don't understand why the version of Smart is now so inferior for editing. I shall plug on, but must admit that this is the first, and last, HP device that has given me such trouble.

Whilst following the advice, a route I've tried before, my printer now functions but only intermittently. Scanning does not function excepte through the inferior Windows software.
