Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Operating System: macOS 10.15 Catalina

I've tried using HP Easy Scan to get my scanning working again.  No success.  When I try to open HP Utility, the computer tells me I need to reinstall some components that came with the computer.  I don't understand what it's talking about.  I could use some help.  Thanks!

@GoldenJedi, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

 

Do you get any errors while using HP Easy Scan?

Try making a standalone copy and check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.

Are you able to print from your MAC?

 

Do you have an Anti-virus/firewall installed on the MAC?

You may check this in System Information > Applications.

If yes, disable the same and try scanning.

 

Update the printer firmware

Click here to download and install the latest printer firmware from your MAC.

Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

 

Also, check for any software updates on MAC

Click the Apple icon > About This Mac > Software Update and install any available update.

 

On your Mac, click Finder, click Applications, click the Hewlett-Packard or HP folder, then double-click HP Utility. (If HP Utility is not available, download and install the printer essential software from here

 

Try using HP Smart app or Apple Image capture to scan as shown in this document and check if that helps - How to scan
