Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.
HP Recommended
Microsoft Windows 11

I have an HP 8710 that for the past couple makes copies from its glass only in black and white even though I say copy in color.

Also when I print from my Windows 11 HP system it only prints in black and white (not even grey I think since one page has yellow highlight but that makes black boxes (not even shaded grey)).

I've tried updating firmware but it say it already up to date. I can't get it to reinstall it. I've tried this through Smart HP and through the printer's control panel.

I also how turned the printer off including disconnecting power and restarted but this this still doesn't copy in color.

I tried popping out and immediately reinserting each of the four printer cartridges but that didn't help either.

I am on the HP Instant Ink program - which is pretty useless now.

I am on a second story so I could throw it out my window but it would hit my truck.

Hi @like92115,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Check Printer Settings:

  • Ensure that color printing is enabled in both the printer’s control panel and the printing preferences on your computer.
  • In Windows 11, navigate to "Printers & Scanners" in Settings, select your printer, and ensure that the default print mode is set to color.

Driver Update and Reinstallation:

  • Go to the HP Support Website and download the latest drivers specifically for Windows 11.
  • Uninstall the current printer drivers from your computer and reinstall the downloaded ones. This ensures the drivers are correctly configured for color printing.

Print Quality Diagnostics:

  • Run a "Print Quality Diagnostic" report from the printer's settings menu to determine any cartridge issues. This can help identify if one of the color cartridges is malfunctioning.

Check Ink Cartridges:

  • Ensure that all ink cartridges have sufficient ink and are correctly installed. Replace any empty or faulty cartridges.
  • Clean the cartridge contacts gently with a lint-free cloth.

Printer Firmware:

  • Confirm that the firmware is indeed up to date. If you suspect an issue, try doing a manual firmware update using the printer’s Embedded Web Server (EWS).

Reset Printer Settings:

  • Perform a reset of the printer settings to default and try selecting color options again.
  • Refer to your printer's user guide for instructions on how to reset settings.

Print and Scan Doctor:

  • Use the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool for Windows, which can diagnose and fix many printing issues automatically. Download it from the HP Support Website.

I hope this helps.
