When I load documents in the document feeder to scan, then hit the scan button, it says no documents are loaded. I appreciate all your help to resolve this issue. Thank you!

Hi @AnnDu,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP DeskJet 4158e is not detecting documents in the document feeder, there are a few things you can try.

  • Check the document feeder: Make sure there are no obstructions, such as paper clips or torn pieces of paper, in the document feeder. Also, make sure that the documents you are trying to scan are not too thick or too thin.
  • Clean the document feeder: Dirt, dust, and debris can accumulate in the document feeder and cause scanning problems. Use a clean, dry cloth to wipe down the feeder rollers and remove any dirt or debris.
  • Restart the printer: Sometimes, simply restarting the printer can resolve the issue. Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for a few minutes before plugging it back in and turning it on.
  • Update the printer driver: If your printer driver is outdated or corrupt, it can cause scanning problems. Go to the HP website and download the latest driver for your printer model.
  • Reset the printer: If none of the above steps work, you can try resetting the printer to its default settings.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
