I have been trying to sort out my all in one with scanner. IT DOESN"T WORK, I have tried all the options, downloads, unplugging, re setting, re install, print and scan doctor, you name it. I had someone on virtual chat but that connection got cut and all consequent emails went to junk. Now I can't get them back.  The scan Dr. says there is a problem but can't or won't identify it. All I want to do is to scan a  bunch of old photos to my computer hard drive and be able to print documents, there is no desk top short cuts or anything available from HP. I don't know how many times I entered my SN into the field but it keeps telling me it doesn't exist, but it DID exist when I was on line with chat. Customer service with HP is a joke and not a funny one, I will NEVER recommend them to anyone every again. Cannon is much friendlier and I am considering ditching this HP for one of theirs. BAD experience all the way around, I guess I didn't spend enough to warrant service (also my warranty is up in three days so they will just keep putting me off until it expires then they will help me FOR A FEE. I can see this one coming from way off.

Here are a few steps you might consider to troubleshoot the scanning issue on your own:

 

  • Check Connections: Ensure that your printer is properly connected to your computer and that all cables are securely plugged in.
  • Restart Devices: Sometimes, simply restarting both your computer and the printer can resolve connectivity issues.
  • Software Update: Make sure you have the latest printer drivers and software installed. You can visit the HP website and download the latest drivers specific to your printer model.
  • Scan Doctor Tool: Since you've already tried this, if it's reporting a problem but not fixing it, note down any error messages it provides. These can be helpful in diagnosing the issue.
  • Check Firewall/Antivirus Settings: Sometimes security software can interfere with the scanning process. Temporarily disable them and see if that resolves the issue.
  • Reinstall Drivers: Uninstall the printer drivers completely from your computer and then reinstall them from scratch.
