I have brought office jet 3830 with a fax capability, to this day , still have problem fax it?

this office jet 3830 comes with fax - but since 9/2019 i purchased it, the fax has not function and I spend hundreds of hours with HP technicians all the way to their senior supervisors . The supervisor said they are committed to get problem solved for me and I can call anytime for the same issue. i just fax 2 pages out, no one can received them. I just called Hp, they said my warranty expired after one year, and since the supervisor didn't gave me a case number but said just call. they blocked me to talk to a technician now? and I an retiree, without talk to a live person, i don't know how to function ? YenHwa

Yes, this printer supports the fax feature. 

Are you using a dedicated fax line or a shared line?

Do you get any errors while sending/receiving fax?

 

Update the printer firmware

Click here to download and install the latest printer firmware from your MAC.

Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

 

You may send a test fax to HP and HP will send you a reply. By this, we can check the fax functionality. Refer to this document to know how to send the fax.

 

Also, run a fax test on the printer.

Go to Fax > Setup > Tools > Run fax test and check if any of the tests failed.

Hi, i appreciate that you try to help me. it has been a disaster for me since i purchased this ink jet printer ---

first of all i do share fax number with my home phone number. they sit next to each other. since i got your tipts, i tried and failed time and time again.

this morning, i tried. 1, i ddi not know where to press #82? did not find it on control panel? press #82 on my handset phone but what after? 

i tried to run the fax test, couldn't located it on the controller plane?

i fax a black and white page to hp fax test number 1-800-473-2963 , i got a wired recorded message about my age? so at the end, the printer log said no answer? i tried few times, same?
