I cannot find  the printer icon Deskjet 2540 on my  laptop.  Few weeks ago is still on the  desktop but suddenly disappeared. I still  can print my document but cannot  scan because  I  cannot have the printer  icon.

I see that you are facing an issue with your printer icon missing from your PC.

Please follow the below steps to fix the issue.

 

1. Check the Printer Software

Open Printer Software:

  • Go to the Start menu (or press the Windows key) and type in "HP Deskjet 2540" or "HP Printer".
  • Look for the HP Printer Assistant or HP Scan and Capture app and open it.

Re-add the Shortcut:

  • If the software opens, there should be an option to create a shortcut on the desktop. Look in the settings or options menu for this feature.

2. Check the Start Menu

Search for the Printer:

  • Type “Printers & scanners” in the Start menu search bar and select it.
  • Check if your HP Deskjet 2540 is listed there. If it is, you can manage it from this menu.

Pin to Start Menu:

  • If you find it, you can right-click it and select "Pin to Start" or "Pin to Taskbar" for easier access.

3. Reinstall the Printer Software

Download Drivers:

  • Visit the HP Support website by clicking on this link to install the full feature software again.
  • Download and install the latest drivers and software.

Follow Installation Instructions:

  • The installation process usually includes an option to create desktop shortcuts.

4. Check Your Printer Settings

Open Control Panel:

  • Go to Control Panel (you can search for it in the Start menu).
  • Navigate to "Devices and Printers" or "View devices and printers".

Locate Your Printer:

  • Right-click on the HP Deskjet 2540 and choose "Create shortcut" to place an icon on your desktop.
