Hi,

 

I use the software HP scan to scan various documents on our newly bought HP Color LaserJet MFP M282nw. The option to add pages to the same document is grayed, so I can't use it, while it was available with the HP Scan dedicated to our previous printer ( a HP Color LaserJet MFP M277dw).

 

I hope you'll tell me there is a way to unlock this feature I used a lot in the past.

To address the issue you're experiencing with the HP Color LaserJet MFP M282nw, where the option to add pages to the same document is grayed out in the HP Scan software, follow these steps:

Update HP Scan Software and Drivers: First, ensure that you have the latest version of the HP Scan software and printer drivers installed. HP frequently releases updates to improve compatibility and fix bugs. Visit the HP Support website, find your printer model, and download the latest software and drivers.

Check Scanner Settings: In some cases, the option to add pages might be available only under specific scanning profiles or settings. Make sure you're not using a scanning shortcut or profile that restricts editing options. Explore the software settings to see if switching the scan mode or document type unlocks the feature.

HP Scan and Capture App: If updating the software doesn't resolve the issue, consider using the HP Scan and Capture app, a free app available from the Windows Store that can scan from HP scanners and has features for scanning multiple pages into one document.

Alternative Software: As a workaround, you could also try third-party scanning software that supports multi-page document creation. Many of these applications offer advanced features and may provide the functionality you need.

Manual Merge: As a last resort, if none of the above solutions work, you can scan pages individually and then use a PDF editor to manually merge them into one document. This isn't as convenient but can serve as a temporary solution until you can resolve the issue with the HP Scan software.
