I tried scanning to a windows desktop and it works smoothly.

but when I triec network folder scanning to Mac OS (10.12) it fails with an error (Incorrect credentials. Check your username/password and try again. )

I know that credentials are correct and I have updated the same but i am consistently getting same error.

Hello, @sbisht124 – Hope you are well 🙂

Welcome back to HP Support Forums! I will do my best to assist you with this issue.

I see that you are facing issues while trying to scan to the network folder. Appreciate all your efforts so far. I have seen at times that the issue is fixed by assigning a manual google DNS address for the printer. Follow the steps below:

  • Obtain the IP address of the printer – You can touch the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel to obtain the IP address.
  • Type the IP address on your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.
  • Go to the “Network” tab – Click on “Wireless (802.11) – Then click on “Network address (IPv4)
  • Click on the radio button which says “Manual IP” and then click “Suggest a manual IP address” to give a manual IP address to your printer.
  • Click on radio button which says “Manual DNS Server” and under manual preferred type 8.8.8.8 and under manual alternate type 8.8.4.4 (This is Google DNS server address)

Now, go to http://hp.care/2qxkrdM and follow the steps under "Scan directly to a network folder (network connections only)" for MAC. Create a new folder and then try to scan.

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance.

Cheers 🙂

I had this same issue recently and these steps did not resolve my issue.  As well, I think these steps have an error where it guides you to the Wireless connection to set the IP versus the wired.

However, I was able to finally resolve my issue by specifying the domain\username in the username field when configuring the folder login credentials.  I also gave that same user permission on the folder as well.

Note: this was all working fine until I migrated our AD to a new computer.

Hi Nexent1

Can you please inform what did you use as the "domain" name?

If possible, please share your whole configuration.

Tried everything I could think of including numerous hours with HP on chat, messenger, and phone.

Hi Jproterus,

Our printer is on our company network so I was using our internal company network domain.  In my case adding the domain\username was needed instead of just the username.

Your domain will be unique to your situation.  The domain is related to your authentication server in your network.  While most times you can just use your username and passord, in this case I needed to add the domain for the authentication server. <Network Domain>\<User Name> instead of just <User Name>.

Hope this helps clarify your situation.

Regards

Robert
