Hi @RP122,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The issue you're encountering with your HP Envy 6020 printer might be due to the scanner's resolution settings being too high, which can cause the scanner to be overwhelmed and unable to process the scan. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve this issue.

Reset the Printer

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  2. Wait for about 60 seconds.
  3. Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

Revert to Default Scan Settings

If you can access the scan settings, try reverting to the default settings:

  1. Open the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device.
  2. Go to the Scan section.
  3. Adjust the scan resolution to a lower setting, such as 300 dpi.

Update Printer Firmware and Software

Ensure that your printer firmware and the HP Smart app are up to date:

  1. Visit the HP Support website and download the latest firmware for the HP Envy 6020.
  2. Install the firmware update following the on-screen instructions.
  3. Update the HP Smart app on your device to the latest version.

Clear the Scanner's Cache (if applicable)

Sometimes, clearing the scanner’s cache can resolve issues:

  1. Open the HP Smart app.
  2. Navigate to the settings or preferences.
  3. Look for an option to clear the scanner cache or reset the scanner settings.

Reinstall the HP Smart App

If the problem persists, try reinstalling the HP Smart app:

  1. Uninstall the HP Smart app from your device.
  2. Restart your device.
  3. Reinstall the HP Smart app from the official HP website or your device’s app store.
  4. Set up your printer again within the app.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
