Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.
HP Recommended

Hello, I would like to install my scanner. I have a Hewlett Packard printer with the number F4580. I also have HP Smart installed on the laptop. I connect the printer, turn it on, but HP Smart still cannot find my printer. How can that be? And how can I scan now? Is there anyone who can help me with this? Thank you in advance and best regards, PJ.

Hi @PJ2041

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

If your HP DeskJet F4580 printer is not being detected by HP Smart, there could be several issues at play. Here are some steps to help resolve the problem:

Check Connections:

  • Ensure that the printer is properly connected to your computer or network. For a USB connection, make sure the cable is securely connected to both the printer and the computer. For a wireless connection, ensure the printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your computer.

Verify Printer Power:

  • Ensure that the printer is turned on and has no error states (flashing lights or error messages).

Restart Devices:

  • Restart both the printer and your computer to refresh connections and system settings.

Update Printer Drivers:

  • Ensure your printer drivers are up to date. You can find the latest drivers on the HP Support website.

HP Smart App Troubleshooting:

  • Close the HP Smart app and restart it.
  • Ensure that both your HP Smart app and operating system are up to date.
  • Remove and re-add the printer in the HP Smart app. Open HP Smart, click on "Printers" and then "Add Printer" to find your device.

Firewall Settings:

  • Check your firewall settings to ensure they are not blocking the communication between the printer and the HP Smart app. You may need to adjust the firewall settings temporarily to allow the printer to be detected.

Use Built-In Windows Scanning:

  • As a temporary solution for scanning, you can use Windows' built-in scanning utility:
  • Go to "Start" > "Windows Accessories" > "Windows Fax and Scan" and try initiating a scan from there.

Use HP’s Diagnose & Fix Tool

  • In the HP Smart app, click Printer Settings > Diagnose & Fix.
  • Let it run a scan—it will automatically fix common connection issues.
You can also access this tool on HP’s support page if needed.

If you've tried all the above steps and are still having trouble, please consider reaching out to HP Phone Support for further assistance. They can provide more detailed guidance tailored to your specific setup.
